Everyone is born with a family, but you are born into a group of strangers.

As you grow older you gain a few and lose a few. You hear about this one and that one, you hear about family traditions, but they pass you by. Then one day something happens that makes you think and wonder. Who are all these names, where did they come from, and what did they do to contribute to the world as they passed through?

You start the ever ending search into the Genealogical Galaxy of the unknown. You find a name and another, you find out that sometimes the traditions you heard as a child are wrong and your background is completely changed.

The family that were once strangers and phantom ghost start to become more than just a name you heard as a child. They were once flesh and blood, who lived and toiled to make their place in life. They had their happiness and their sorrows as they reared their families. They were born, married, bore children and died, just as you were, did, and will. Who was there to record their life? All you have to do is to look and you will find it. The story is told in old dusty family bibles, in old town record books, libraries, historical societies, newspapers and in forgotten letters and photographs.

You experience the thrill of finding that one more name, filling that void in finding who we are and from where we came into this world. We leave this research to our children's children's children in order for them to know the people who came before them and the connection of two people who were responsible for them being here.

We leave this research to all those who seek the knowledge of their families and hope that they will share their information with others as those who have shared with us. We thank the many family, friends, the librarians and custodians in Historical Societies and archives and lastly and definitely not the least, the many authors who allowed us to quote their works. Without all their help our task would be difficult and almost impossible. We have quoted as many sources that we were able so that those who read this work will be able to use those leads to expand their own research.

Happy hunting,

We are just starting this web page but have been working on our family lines for over 25 years. We will be adding additional information to the site as the time allows.

We have researched the Brush Family (Thomas & Richard of Huntington, Long Island, 1600's) & the Higbe Family,(many spellings), Edward, also of Long Island, 1600's)and their allied famiies. We are working on the female members of our familes.

In addition we are also researching the Breese Family (Missouri & Illinois), Gargan Family (California & Ireland), Tobin Family(California & Ireland) and the Porter Family (Massachusetts & Washington).

We have our direct lines (Brush & Higbe)from the 1600's to the present but are looking for biographical information on as many as we can find. We are just starting the Breese, Gargan and Porter lines. There is a connection to the Tobin line but we have not found it yet.

We will be glad to help others and share information. We will be spending more time with this after retirement, 2003.
