He was Earl of Ulster and Baron of Connaught and of Trim, dying at Galway 18 June 1313. Elizabeth, his wife, was born at Tewksbury 16 September 1295 and died 4 November 1360. They were married at Waltham Abbey 30 September 1308.

Elizabeth inherited one third of the vast Clare estates to which she was co-heiress. Her 'third' did little for her husband Roger Damory who joind the 'opposition' in 1321 in order to foght for his inheritance and was killed at Boroughbridge. Her lands thus passed to her son by her first marriage, William de Burgh, Earl of Ulster.

      Earl of Lancaster; summoned to Parliament v.p. on 6 February 1298/9 by writ directed Henrico De Lancastre nepoti Regis, whereby, he may be hald to have become Lord Lancaster. He took part in the siege of Carlaverock in July 1300. Created Earl of Leicester on 29 March 1324, and restored as Earl of Lancaster between 1324 and 1326 succeeding his older brother Thomas. On the Queen's return to England with Roger De Mortimer in September 1326, he joined her party against King Edward II, which Led to a general Desertion of the King's cause. He was sent in pursuit and captured the King at neath; was appointed to take charge of the King, and was responsible for his custody at Kenilworth. About 1330 he bacame blind. Upon the fall of Mortimer his close personal relations with the young King were renewed.

JOHN de MOWBRAY, became 3rd Baron and was in great favour with King Edward III, being his constant companion in arms through the years, the king having given him his lands before he was of full age, in recognition of the splendid services rendered by his predecessors. Mowbray assisted at the siege of Nantes and the raising of the siege of Aguillon. In the 20th of King Edward III he was at the Battle of Durham, and he was for a time governor of Berwic-upon-tweed. His first wife was Joan, daughter of Henry, Earl of Lancaster, see Chapter 3 1. They had a son John who succeeded, and a daughter Alianore, who became the third wife of Roger, Lord la Warre, born 1326, died 1370. Alianore has been presumed to have been the daughter of her brother John de Mowbray, but this pedigree has been amended.
