Find Family

I am researching the Bruce and Dawe Families and the information gathered here is only as accurate as the records from which it was obtained. Most of the data was obtained from actual Church records and census material. A portion of this material has been acquired from stories handed down from generation to generation.

The Bruce Family came from Scotland, the first John Bruce for whom we have any data was born in Scotland and went to France about the time of the Napoleonic Wars. He married there and moved to the Codroy Vally in Newfoundland in the early 1830's.

The Daw/Dawe Family came from Wincanton, Somerset, England. Job Daw was the son of Samuel and Hannah Daw and came to Newfoundland and settled in Greenspond, Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland in the late 1820's or early 1830's.

There is still a wealth of information to be found and any information on either of these families will be appreciated.
