Researching the Simontons who descended from Theophilus Simonton and Mary Smith Simonton who came from Scotland and Ireland and first settled in Pennsylvania. Also their descendents and other connections who migrated into the southern states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana and Texas, and possibly other states.

Some additional families that have connections to the Simontons are: Symington, Greer, Frame, Allison, Holliday, Gaston, Johnson, Livingston, Tomlinson, Daugherty, McKee, Keasler, Helmke, McFarland, Reid, Potts, Irvin, Thornton, Torrence, Davidson, Gaither, Buchanan, Falls, Gay, Dabney, Peck, Whatley and Morrison, among others.

The parents of my g-grandmother Jane Holliday Simonton, who married my g-grandfather Thomas Hall Simonton in 1839 in Troup County, GA, were John Holliday, Jr. and Lutisha Beasley Holliday. They were in Jones Co., GA before Lutisha and 5 sons and daughter Jane moved to Chambers Co., AL, after John Holliday, Jr.'s death in GA. John, Jr.'s father was John Holliday of Jones Co., GA, and before that Edgefield District, SC. Thomas Hall and Jane raised their family in Chambers County, AL from abt 1840-1875. A number of their children migrated to Bell and Falls counties in Texas, as well as some of the Holliday family members.

The following has been documented for purposes of membership in Daughters of the American Revolution, on the military service of Adam Simonton, son of Robert Simonton, son of Theophilus Simonton,

Adam Simonton was b. 29 Jan 1744 at Salisbury District, Iredell Co., NC and died at Greene Co., GA before 5 Oct 1801. His wife was Margaret Gaston, b. 11 Jan 1755 at Iredell Co., NC and died at Wilkes Co., GA after 5 Nov 1801. They were married 26 Dec 1771.

Felix Simonton was the son of Adam and Margaret (above). Felix was b. 18 Dec 1785 at Iredell Co., NC and died at Vienna, LA on 31 Aug 1875. His first wife was Sarah Greer b. 24 Dec 1792 at Iredell Co., NC and died in Troup Co., GA on 4 Feb 1845. They married 20 Dec 1810. Felix' second marriage was to Mary Graham Stuart on 25 Dec 1846 in Coosa County, AL.

Thomas Hall Simonton was the son of Felix and Sarah Greer (above). He was born 21 Oct 1817 in Newton County, GA and died 1868 at Chambers Co., AL. He was married on 30 June 1839 to Jane Holliday, b. abt 1822 in GA and died after 1870 in Chambers Co., AL.

Augustus Hamilton Simonton was the son of Thomas Hall and Jane Holliday Simonton (above). He was b. 29 Feb 1860 in Chambers Co., AL and d. at Lott (Falls Co.) TX on 18 Oct 1925. He was married to Anna Elizabeth McKee on 27 Dec 1877 in Chambers Co., AL. Anna was b. 14 July 1861 in AL and died at Wichita Falls, TX on 30 Aug 1932.

Cornelius Maurice Simonton was the son of Augustus Hamilton Simonton and Anna Elizabeth McKee Simonton (above). He was b. 2 Feb 1893 in Chambers Co., AL and died at Starkville, MS on 12 July 1976. He was married to Willie Ione Parrish on 27 July 1913 in Troup Co., GA. Willie was b. 27 June 1894 in AL and died at Starkville, MS on 3 Feb 1978.

Faye Juanita Simonton Bryan was the daughter of Cornelius and Willie Simonton (above). She was born 13 July 1929. She married Robert Dewey Bryan on 25 Aug 1950. Their children are:

(1) David Robert Bryan, b. 9 Sept 1953, married (1) Catherine Reece and they had one child, Christopher David Bryan, b. 7 July 1972. Christopher David married Leta Kay Bozone on
August 22, 1998. David Robert married (2) Betty Lorraine Kornegay and they have 2 children: Cynthia Lorraine Bryan and Heather Lynn Bryan.

(2 Cynthia Leigh Bryan, b. 5 Sept 1955, d. 8 April 1992.

(3 George Morris Bryan, b. 6 Sept 1956. George married Monica Ann Bennear and they have one child, Lindsey Faith Bryan, b. 7 May 1998.
