Notes for Martin Shelton:
First Generation by Donna Evans

      1.      Martin SHELTON * was born about 1801 in South Carolina. He died after
1880 in Prob. Paulding County, Georgia.

Martin Shelton is first seen on the 1830 Greenville County, South Carol census. He and wife, Manerva Tabitha, lived on the head waters of the Enoree River. This is shown by the sale of land in January, 1838 and August 1843. I can find no records of them purchasing this land or receiving a Land Grant. I assume they then moved to Cobb County, Georgia, where Census records show they were found in 1850. By 1860, they were in Paulding County, Georgia and remained there until after the 1880 Census for that County was taken. There is no record of them after this date, so I assume they died and are buried near the Dallas area of Paulding County.
