I am new at this! My maiden name is O'Donnell--but I am German, too. I am searching for my German side first. My mother's name was Jeanette C. Funk(2-15-12), Daughter of George W. Funk(9-24-1876) and Eva Schielber(2-26-1882), Grandchild of Frank Xavier Funk & Krezenz Wiedeman, as well as Peter Anton Scheibler and Rose Spieler. Most settled in Kane Co, Illinois. All parents and grandparents came from Germany, although I believe that Krezenz died in Germany during childbirth. The names of the German towns I have are Oberkammlach and Aschaffenberg--both in Bavaria, I believe.

My father's family is from Ireland. My grandfather Benjamin O'Donnell immigrated to Chicago in 1893--from County Limerick. He was a part of a large family with brothers John, Patrick, William and Daniel and sisters Catherine, Nora, Bess (Bridget), Mary, Margaret and Nancy. Most immigrated to the US, but I believe that Nancy and Daniel did not. My grandfather's obit mentions the area of Fohenagh County, Limerick. My father's mother is a Stokes from Cork County, Ireland. She immigrated around the turn of the century.
