Notes
Mrs. Case was left a orphan at an early age, was adopted by her uncle, Ira Corvin, and carefully educated at the South Hold Academy. Possessing much spirituality, with lage benevolence, she not only made many friends, but was very attractive in society, through her conversational power. Believing in the inspired teaching of "Casting bread upon the waters," she and her husband are characterized by large benevolence. They lived in Peconic, Long Island.

Mr. Buckingham was a farmer and lived in Brookhaven, Long Island.

188. JOHN WILSON8 BUCKINGHAM (JOHN NEWTON7, JOHN6, JOHN5, JOHN4, GIDEON3, DANIEL2, THOMAS1) was born 10 February 1840. He married ALICE BALDWIN 06 August 1867 in Milford, Connecticut.

Notes
John W. Buckingham; was engaged in the drug business at Bridgeport, Connecticut, when the war of the Rebellion commenced. On 20th of august, 1862, he enlisted as Lieut. in the 23rd Regiment of Connecticut Volunteers, and was appointed Post Adjutant at Park Barracks, in New York. Soon after the regiment sailed, it shipwreaked on Strangers' Key, one of the English West India Islands, near Nassau, New Providence, on the way to New Orleans. One the 23rd of June, 1863 he was taken prisoner of war at the battle of Brashier City, Louisiana, eighty miles from New Orleans, and taken about 400 mile to Tyler, Texas, one of the notorious rebel prison pens, from which he escaped, but was recaptured- receiving the usual treatment in such cases; was finally exchanged in July 1864, after being held thirteen months, and was mustered out of service at Hartford, Connecticut 19 August 1864.
They lived in Milford, Connecticut where he was engaged in the dry-goods business.

Served in the Civil War; enlisted in Company I, 1st Michigan Cavalry, 16 December 1863, at Meridian, for 3 years, age 17. Muster 23 December 1863. Promoted to Corporal 20 June 1864. Transferred to Company L, 17 November 1865. Mustered out at Salt Lake City, Utah, 10 March 1866.
Moved to Plainsville, Nebraska sometime after 1870, he shows up in 1870 Michigan Census in Attica Township, Lapeer County, Michigan. Does not appear to be married at this time.
Married some time between 1870 and 1874 (his first child was born about 1874).

191. ELLIS8 BUCKINGHAM (ORRIN GILBERT7, GILBERT6, ABEL5, NATHANAEL4, SAMUEL3, SAMUEL2, THOMAS1) was born 12 April 1849 in Connecticut, and died 02 March 1934. He married (1) MARY LETITIA SNYDER, daughter of Philip Synder and Catherine Synder. He married (2) ADA KELSEY 17 May 1890 in Mount Pindus Township, Oscoda County, Michigan, daughter of Noah Kelsey and Caroline Nichols. He married (3) MARY ANN MAYBEE Aft 1907.

Served in the Civil War; enlisted in Company F, of the 29th Michigan Infantry, 15 March 1865, at Watertown, Sanilac County, Michigan, for 1 year, age 17. Mustered 16 March 1865. Join the regiment at Anderson, Tennesee, 30 March 1865. Mustered out at Murfreesboro, Tennesee, 6 September 1865.
Buried in Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore, Montcalm County, Michigan
