Will of Capt. Daniel Little, Esq.

In the name of God, amen, I, Daniel Little of CO of Rowan, Province of North Carolina, being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed unto all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament. That is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors: nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the power of Almighty God, and as touching my worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, give and devise and dispose of same in the following manner.

1. I give and bequeath to Mary, my dear beloved wife, the third part of all my personal estate or the money arising Therefrom.

2. Also I give my dear beloved sons, Daniel and John Little, all the ground in town in the lots no. 73 and 74 in the East Square of the town of Salisbury, that part I now own of 73 to be Daniel Littles and that I now own of no. 74 to be John Littles.

All the rest of my real and personal Estate to be disposed of at a public sale of my executors and the money arising therefrom, after my just debts are paid, to be equally divided amongest my sons and daughter: viz Peter, Daniel, John, Henry & James Little (Lewis Little written in margin) and my daughter, Mary Little, share and share alike and in case it should please God that any of my children should die before they come of lawful age, then and in that case all such part of my estate, that falls to any or either of my children so deceased, is to be equally divided among the survivors of my children, share and share alike.

And I hereby do make and ordain my dearly beloved wife, Mary and my well beloved friend Michael Brown, Executors to this my last will and testament and I do utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments, wills, legacys, bequests, and executors by me in any wise and before named, willed and bequeathed.

Ratifying and confirming this, and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof, I have herewith set my hand and seal, this 9th day of December in the year of our God, one thousand seven hundred and seventy five.

Signed, sealed, published and pronounced and declared by the said Daniel Little as his last will and testament, who in his presence and in presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names.
Be it remembered that the name Lewis Little was interlined before sealing.
