This version was written to help Grace, her daughter who was applying for membership in the DAR. The latest date I can find is about 1952.

Thomas Urie and James Urie, brothers, came from Glasgow, Scotland about 1750.

James and Thomas Urie: brothers came to America from Glasgow, Scotland in 1750.

James went to Baltimore, Md. and died there after living a number of years, leaving no children so far as we know.

James went to Baltimore, Md. and was very active there during the Revolutionary War and was one of a Committee of Safety who took over the Government of the state at that time

Thomas Urie from whom we descended settled in Kent Co. Md. near the town of Rock Hall - He was born in Glasgow Scotland in 1725: -

Thomas Urie who was born in Glasgow Scotland in 1725 - who came to America in 1750 and settled near Rock Hall in Kent County, Maryland - He was a business man and made a fortune, which was administered by his son John from whom we descended.

We descended from John Urie: John Urie: my Great grandfather Born Dec 15, 1766 Died Jan. 12, 1846 married May 11, 1790 Elizabeth Berryman his wife (when she was born and died, we do not know.)

They had eight children: viz - Henry, John, James, Mary, Robert, Elizabeth, Thomas & William. We descended through James.

Thomas never married, left no children. Went to South Carolina and died there, left his estate to his negro slaves.

My grandfather's only brother. He was a Methodist minister and followed it as long as he lived. We have no history of the lines of his children except his only daughter Ella Urie married a Methodist minister.

Elizabeth, the only sister my grandfather had, who lived to be grown and married: She married Dennis Vickers: They had four children, vis: Elizabeth, Frannie, Mary, and Dennis Vickers Jr.: He never married : His mother being left a widow early. He stayed with her until she died - She was born in 1806 and died in 1889, over 83 yrs. of age - I visited them when a young girl - Her daughter Elizabeth married Capt. Downey: They had four sons and three daughters. She was the only one of (El's) her children to leave any children--

Elizabeth Urie, was my grandfather's only sister - I visited her when a young girl. In those days going some distance was an undertaking - But as I had lost all my grandparents before I was born and as she belonged to thier generation I was so glad I got to see her. Elizabeth was born Jan. 21, 1805 and died in 1889. She married Dennis Vickers. They had three daughters; Elizabeth, Mary, and Fannie -And one son Dennis Vickers Jr. He never married as his mother was left a widow early - He lived with her till she died - Elizabeth married: Capt. Edward Downey who ran a boat from Baltimore down the Chesapeake Bay - They had three daughters: Mamie, Emma and Annie and four sons: David, Earle, George & Alvin - These were the only grandchildren Elizabeth Urie had so far as I ever heard

James Urie, my grandfather - Born May 2nd, 1799. Died March 21st 1857 married April 1st. 1827 Sarah Logue my grandmother Born June: 1805 Died June 18: 1845 They had 10 children: viz. Robert, John, James, Anna, Emeline, Sarah Lou: Ellen, Thomas: William Thomas and Laura Urie only six lived to be grown James and William Thomas. The four daughters lived to be a good old age: Anna, Emeline: Sarah Lou: & Laura Urie -

*My Grandmother Sarah Logue was the daughter of William Logue and his wife (her mother) was Mary Carmicheal and her father was a soldier in the Revolutionary war which would have entitled us to be one of the daughters of the American Revolution - /s/ Mary E. McGinnes.
