I am researching my 'paternal' line of DAVIDSON and MERRICK, as well as my 'maternal' line of YURKOVIC and SHIGO.
DAVIDSON surnames are GARDINER, CROOKSTON, DONALDSON, and PATERSON/PATTERSON. These people lived in Lansford and Summit Hill, Pennsylvania as well as Scotland. This is where I get my Scottish blood from!
MERRICK surnames are POBST/BOBST, FRITZ, WARNER, and JEFFRIES/JEFFREYS. This line was from Mauch Chunk, now Jim Thorpe, and nearby Carbon County towns in Pennsylvania. There is a long history within PA with this line.
YURKOVIC surnames are JURKOVIC/JURKOVICH, HUDEK/HUDECEK, STEFAN,and FUMACH. This line was from Coaldale, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, but more distantly from Czechoslovakia.
SHIGO surnames are SHIGO/CSAJKA/CAJKA, BALIK/BALICK changed to SMITH, BILA/BELEG/BILY, POSTOVA/POSTA, SZAKALSZKA/SAKALSKI and MARCINCINOVA/MARCINCIN or more specifically MARCINCINOVA-LACZKOVA. This line is from Coaldale, Lansford and Bethlehem, Pennyslvania but as with the Yurkovic line, more distantly from Czechoslovakia, now the Slovak Republic.
My DAVIDSON line came from Scotland and settled in Lansford, Carbon County, Pennsylvania; Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois; and St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. My MERRICK line has a long history in the Mauch Chunk area of Pennsylvania. The YURKOVIC AND SHIGO lines came from Czechoslovakia/Austria-Hungary and settled in Coaldale, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania and some later Edison, New Jersey.
I have been working on oral histories for 33+ years. The documentation process is underway. If you have any documents to confirm information, please contact me. Any information would be greatly appreciated. This is always a work in progress. For additional information, go to http://iarelative.com/budd.htm Thank you.
