I am doing genealogy research on the Budai Family. They are orginally from a village formally called "Nemetgurab, formally in Hungary, the village is now called "Velky Grob" and is located in Slovakia (the borders changed from the World Wars). My grandfather Paul Budai came to the US around 1906, left and then returned around 1913, married (in St. Louis, Mo. to Mary Rau of the same village) and finally settled and died in the Poughkeepsie, NY area. Paul's parents names were: Joinas (I think) Budai and Judi Boji (Baji). Mary's parents names were: Jarros (or maybe Tarros) Rau and Katalin Lantoy (Lantay). Paul and Mary both had a brother or sister that also came to the states. Paul and Mary's children were mostly in the Poughkeepsie area with grandchildren still in that area. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated. Tom Budai |
