Comments:Will:Lists Christian Meyer's wife Anna, children:John, David, Jacob, Martin, Christian, Elizabeth wife of Peter Kohl and Mary wife of Christian Streit.Jacob Meyer and Christian Frick were the executors of Christian's will.In the will, land situated in Manheim Township, adjoining lands of Jacob Meyer and David Meyer containing about twenty acres is ordered to be sold.Jacob is mentioned as being given one seventh part share ("he having as a for said received one hundred and fifty pounds"); Deed Book DD, page 404, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, dated 29 November 1785, between Christian Myer of Manheim Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania:In this deed it is mentioned that "yeoman and Ann his wife of the one part and Jacob Myer of the same place blacksmith of the other part".The deed goes through the history of the land patent from 3 May 1763 until 27 March 1775 when Ulrich Eshelman and Catherine his wife granted it to Christian Myer.The land which was granted to Jacob is described in the deed as being two tracts, the one containing 109 acres and the other 5 acres.Jacob paid 370 pounds of gold and silver for these two parcels.Note that Jacob is described as a blacksmith and the one part of land is 109 acres.
Deed Book U, Vol. 3, page 115-118, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania: This deed dated 9 March 1805 is between "Jacob Moyer of the Township of Mount Joy in the County of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, yeoman, and Barbara his wife of the one part, and Abraham Frick of the Township of Manheim".The land is described as containing 12 and 6/8 acres and being of a larger tract which was obtained from "Christian Moyer, (alias Myer) and Ann his wife."Note that Jacob formerly of Manheim is now in Mount Joy Township with a wife Barbara.This, of course, fits with our Jacob's second wife Barbara who is mentioned in his will.Also note that he is now a yeoman and not described as a blacksmith.
Deed Book 6, Vol. 4, pages 207-210, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania:This deed also dated 9 March 1805 and is between Jacob Meyer of the Township of Mount Joy, yeoman, and Barbara his wife on the one part and Peter Bachman of the Township of Manheim.This land is also 12 and 6/8 acres and is described as land obtained in Deed Book DD, page 404 which was obtained from Christian Meyer (alias Myer) and Ann his wife;
Book:"A Cross-Compilation of the 1798 US Direct Tax for Pennsylvania and the 1800 Federal Census for Pennsylvania Lancaster County Vol. II: Manheim Township" by James A. Mallinson, Jr. and Carla A. Mallinson, State Library of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.In this document all the Mayers, Meyers, Moyers, Myers, etc., of Manheim Township were checked out.On page 73 is listed a Jacob Myer, adjoining land of David Myer and Christian Grube (note that Christian's will states that the 20 acres of the deed previously referenced as being in Deed Book 6, Vol. 4, page 207-210, the land is described as being the land of Christian Grube.The description of Jacob Myer's land goes on to say that it contains 108 acres of land with one dwelling house (32 X 26, log, 1 story, 4 windows, 12 lights) one acre.Abraham Winger is listed as occupant and Jacob Myer's occupation is listed as smith.The total acres are 109 fitting description of the land in Deed Book DD, page 404.
Comments:According to the will of Christian Meyer, his son Martin was sold land in which contained the "Stone dwelling house wherein I now live...out of the land which I sold to my son Martin".The deed (Book XX, Vol. 2, pages 139-142, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania) dated 29 August 1795, involves 155 and 3/4 acres of land which can be traced back to land obtained by Christian's father Martin through recorded patent (recorded at Philadelphia in patent book A, Vol. 17, page 179--??) from the estate of Martin Myer (b. ca 1695-1741).This land is mentioned in Orphan's Court Records, Misc. Book, 1742-1760, page 75, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, when 190 acres of land in Manheim Township was appraised as part of the previously mentioned estate.See Jane Evans Best's article for further details.
