"Arthur's youngest son, John, enlisted in March 1779 and fought at the battle of Stono River in South Carolina, and on another enlistment in 1781, fought at the Siege of ninety-six in South Carolina at the Edisto River."
"On 22 June 1785 the father, Arthur, Sr. sold his Prince Edward plantation to Robert Franklin and moved farther west to Bedford County, Virginia, along with sons Thomas and John.In a document filed in Bedford County 2 February 1798, Arthur deeds 196 acres and a Negro to his son Thomas effective upon his death, this action said to be "in settlement of a claim which said Thomas has against me" the nature of which is not disclosed."
