| I've been researching my family ancestry in Humacao and Lares, Puerto Rico; Mataró, Barcelona; Blanes, Gerona; Marín, Pontevedra; Vélez Malaga (Andalusia); Palma de Mallorca, Spain since December 1996. With the help of my now very extended family; the "Puerto Rican/Hispanic Genealogical Society"; and la "Sociedad Puertorriqueña de Genealogía", this is the information I've gathered as of October 1, 1998: My paternal 3rd great grandparents were Tomás Masferrer (orig. spelling Masfarré) (b. circa 1790) & Teresa Fraxedas (b. circa 1800). They had 2 children: Joaquina & my 2nd great grandfather Joaquín who married María de la Concepción Berríos y Rosa. They had 3 children: María de las Mercedes (my great grandmother), Joaquín & Victor. My other set of paternal 2nd great grandparents were Francisco Burset (b. circa 1815) & Francisca Romero (b. circa 1820). They had 2 children: Martín (my great grandfather) & Manuela. Martín & María de las Mercedes had 5 children: Concepción, Victor, José, Joaquín (my grandfather) & Francisco. Manuela Burset married José Rocafort y Baltrons and had at least 5 children: Primitivo, Secundino, Honorato José, Francisca & Juan. Primitivo Rocafort y Burset married Angela Mentrié y Antonini and had over 15 children. I've only been able to find 13 through the census' and civil registers. My other set of paternal 2nd great grandparents were Félix Vélez (b. circa 1805) & María Joaquina Vélez del Rosario(b. circa 1810). They had a son, Ramón Evaristo y Vélez (b. Oct.1832-Camuy, PR) who married Luisa López Collazo (b.1842-Cayey). Ramón Evaristo & Luisa had 6 children: Luis, Mercedes, Rafaél, Evaristo, Ramón, and my grandmother Providencia Vélez.
