The John H. Nelson Home Page

John H. Nelson was born in the state of New York. He married Elizabeth Jane McNames on 8 September 1845 in Perth, Ontario. He died 18 July 1898 in Spruce, Caldonia Twp, Alcona County, MI. Elizabeth was born on 19 February 1829 in Canada. She died 1864 in Lexington, Sanilac County, Michigan.They had four childen. Mary Jane, who married Elizah Rockwood 12 January 1861---Charlotte who was born 5 August 1850 born in Canada and Married Thomas Tate on 8 June 1867 in Forester, MI.--Willaim Hamilton Nelson born 15 April 1853 in Lexington , MI and married Eliza Jane Dove on 5 April 1872 in Alpena, MI --and Roxanne born 16 September 1861 in Washington Twp, Sanilac County, MI.. She married Joseph Tate on 25 December 1877 in Oscoda, MI. Joseph and Thomas were brothers. I never found out what John H. Nelsons middle name was but as he named a son William Hamilton Nelson I am assuming that his middle name could have been Hamilton. John H. Nelson is buried in Spruce, Michigan in the Cemetery behind the Presbyterian Church. It took me about 20 years to find his grave site. My great grand mother Roxanne Nelson Tate Beers is buried in the Onaway Michigan cemetery that is south of the town up on a hilll along with her husband Joseph Tate.
