      1. James3 Burton (John2, Joseph1) was born 1799 in MD, and died January 17, 1876 in 111 N High Street, Baltimore City, Maryland (Source: Death Certificate.). He married (1) Eleanor Watkins October 05, 1820 in First Methodist Episcopal Church, Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland (Source: FHL Number 13697.), daughter of John Watkins and Elizabeth Evans. She was born September 18, 1800 in Baltimore County, Maryland, and died December 28, 1851 in Baltimore County, Maryland. He married (2) Mary Ann Aft. 1851. Notes for James Burton:
The Death Certificate for James Burton states he was residing with his son @ 111 North High Street. In the Baltimore City Directory 1875, Thomas Burton is listed as being the owner of the Burton Hotel at 111 North High Street. We need to check for a will in Baltimore City for James, Joshua did have a brother Thomas Cradock Burton. A will may provide the proof of Joshua's father. We suspect that this James Burton is the father of Joshua Burton.

I have searched for a Will for Burtons in Baltimore City and Baltimore County for 1876. I did not find a will for either James or Mary Burton. I will check for deeds for James Burton to see if it transfers to family. Also look for more information on the Burton Hotel at 111 North High Street.

At this time we have not proven that this James Burton is the father of Joshua Burton. Court records have tied together all the brothers and sisters of Joshua.
