Annie Lee (sister) Burns lived her entire life at the Burns ancestral home. She never married, but took on the responsibility of rearing her siblings upon the death of their mother when the youngest was only three months of age and she was thirteen. When her father remarried, she would not allow him to bring his new wife into "her" home, and so Thomas Rice Burns set up another home for his second family just down the road. Annie Lee was instrumental in organizing the new Maud Cumberland Presbyterian Church which was built next the the Maud (Burns) Cemetery.
