SOURCE: Claudia Alice [Wray] Miles, Fort Cobb, OK, 1957. [Deceased]
'This is the way I figure the folks [Wray and allied families] moved-- from Kentucky to Illinois, to Kansas, back to Illinois, to Texas, and to Oklahoma Indian Territory.
At Rush Creek [Indian Territory], your great-grandfather Azariah [Wray], and John Conner [son-in-law] ran a saw mill. Then Azariah took the 'Idaho fever.' Azariah, Mary, and the 4 youngest of us children had 2 wagons. Your grandmother, Lillie, and John [John Samuel Burgett] had 1 wagon. Aunt Dora and Uncle John [Conner] and Uncle Charley [Wray] in 1 wagon. Cousin Jimmie [Wray] and Malissa and their three older boys in one wagon, and a family of old friends, Addie and Charlie Lake and their oldest boy, Ira, in one wagon. So you see, there was quite a wagon trail of us. Oh yes, one I left out--Aunt Florence and Uncle Ed Albert and Robert.
Not quite so many on way back. Aunt Florence and family stayed in Idaho. Aunt Dora and Uncle John Conner stayed awhile, then they went to Wyoming, and that was when Grandmother Lillie stopped in Kansas somwehere--it may have been Coffeyville.
About the Burgetts--I don't know much. Have about forgotten what I ever did know, but your grandmother Lillie and John Burget were married in Indian Territory. I have seen your GGrandmother, Sarah [Burgett] Fanning. As well as I remember, Ethel resembles her quite a little. She had 6 children. I think--Henry, John, Cornelia, Ellen, Frank, and Lucy. I think they were all Burgetts, unless it was Lucy. They were all married when I saw GGrandmother, Sarah. I have seen Ellen Orrel and Roe, her husband. I don't know how many of these have passed away. I suspect your dope on their movements was about right. I suspect if any of them are living, you will find them in Texas.'
