He was constable at Enfield, March 8, 1742-43, and in 1752 was grand juror. He lived at Tyringham, Hampshire county, and his will was dated May 11, 1756, the inventory being dated December 8, 1756. He married Mary, daughter of John Burroughs. She died in Enfield, December 13, 1807, aged ninety-five years five months and nine days. When she was over seventy-five years of age, she rode on horseback from Enfield to Alstead, New Hampshire. Children: Nehemiah, born February 21, 1733-34, died October 23, 1738; Elizabeth, born July 26, 1735, died September 15, 1758; Samuel, born October 11, 1737; Nehemiah, born September 15, 1739, died August 30, 1742; Jonathan, born May 10, 1742, died November 28, 1760; Nehemiah, born August 4, 1744; John, born September 14, 1746, died August 10, 1758; Joel, mentioned below; Benjamin, born January 8, 1750, died same day; Zebulon, born November 23, 1754. (V) Joel, son of Nehemiah Chandler, was born October 24, 1748, died in Alstead, New .

Harrison Parker, Hawley Massachusetts The first fifty years 1770-1820 by Harrison Parker, (Sara Publishing 459 Fkat Hills Road Amherst, MA 01002-1219), 222, David Burroughs, with a household of 10, lived in the mile-wide strip set off to Plainfield in 1803. He signed ten petitions between 1784 and 1802 requesting this action. While still in Hawley, he was a Surveyor of Highways in 1798 and a Hogreeve in 1794. His relative John Burroughs (who signed six of those petitions) was a Hawley Tithingman in 1792. Yet another brother Ebenezer Burroughs (who also signed six of those petitions) was a Hawley Surveyor of Highways in 1792. Both of these men, and their fellow family members Simon Burroughs (signed five petitions) and Amos Burroughs (signed only one petition in 1785) also lived in the area set off to Plainfield. However, David Burroughs was the only name listed in the Hawley Assessors' records as a property owner in 1799. David, Ebenezer, John, and Simon were all members of the Plainfield church.

He was constable at Enfield, March 8, 1742-43, and in 1752 was grand juror. He lived at Tyringham, Hampshire county, and his will was dated May 11, 1756, the inventory being dated December 8, 1756. He married Mary, daughter of John Burroughs. She died in Enfield, December 13, 1807, aged ninety-five years five months and nine days. When she was over seventy-five years of age, she rode on horseback from Enfield to Alstead, New Hampshire. Children: Nehemiah, born February 21, 1733-34, died October 23, 1738; Elizabeth, born July 26, 1735, died September 15, 1758; Samuel, born October 11, 1737; Nehemiah, born September 15, 1739, died August 30, 1742; Jonathan, born May 10, 1742, died November 28, 1760; Nehemiah, born August 4, 1744; John, born September 14, 1746, died August 10, 1758; Joel, mentioned below; Benjamin, born January 8, 1750, died same day; Zebulon, born November 23, 1754. .

He married Abigail Simmons, of Alstead, who died September 25, 1822, aged seventy-five. Children, born at Alstead: Joel, born November 14, 1773, drowned September 7, 1786; Abigail, born December 30, 1774; Mehitable, born March 4, 1776; Naomi, born 1777; Nehemiah, born June 14, 1780; Nathan, mentioned below; Joel, born 1789; Ruth, died October 8, 1795, aged five years.

Children, born in Alstead: Samuel, mentioned below; Polly M., born March 1, 1822, died in three or four days; John Marvin, went to Ohio in 1847.

Harrison Parker, Hawley Massachusetts The first fifty years 1770-1820 by Harrison Parker, (Sara Publishing 459 Fkat Hills Road Amherst, MA 01002-1219), 222, David Burroughs, with a household of 10, lived in the mile-wide strip set off to Plainfield in 1803. He signed ten petitions between 1784 and 1802 requesting this action. While still in Hawley, he was a Surveyor of Highways in 1798 and a Hogreeve in 1794. His relative John Burroughs (who signed six of those petitions) was a Hawley Tithingman in 1792. Yet another brother Ebenezer Burroughs (who also signed six of those petitions) was a Hawley Surveyor of Highways in 1792. Both of these men, and their fellow family members Simon Burroughs (signed five petitions) and Amos Burroughs (signed only one petition in 1785) also lived in the area set off to Plainfield. However, David Burroughs was the only name listed in the Hawley Assessors' records as a property owner in 1799. David, Ebenezer, John, and Simon were all members of the Plainfield church.
