The Lytal Families of Mississippi, The Scott Family

Updated December 13, 2008

Most of the Lytal Family grew up in North Mississippi. They came to Ms from North Carolina. The spelling of the name may appear as Lytal, Lytle or Little depending on how the census taker wrote it down. Most of the Lytals were farmers as were many of the early settlers in the state. Four of the Lytal Men fought in the Civil War. Others were true to their country and fought in World War II and the Vietnam War. Most of the Lytals stayed in Mississippi, but others branched out to other states, including Arkansas and Texas.
Many of the younger Lytals became teachers.
Thanks to all those who helped me find the information included here.

Joel Mannan Scott's family is included. Murry Cecil Lytal married Rhea Mae Scott. Her father, Ruben Leonard Scott, and his family is also included in the trees at the bottom and the pictures.
