state of Kentucky, County of Pendleton, on this 17th day of March A.D. 1888; personally appeared before me a Clerk of the County Court in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to adminisiter oaths, MARY E. KIDWELL aged 47 years, a resident of Demossville in the County of Pendleton and State of Kentucky, whose Post Office address is Demossville and who, being duly sworn, declares as follows: that to wit I am dependent heir of CATHERINE KIDWELL deceased dependent mother of DAVID D. KIDWELL, the son, deceased being the fifth daughter of WILLIAM KIDWELL deceased father my mother died 8 or 10 years previous, and I being wholely dependent on her for support and being born a sickly child of feeble health and have been all my life and am now not able to earn my living by dayly labor at the death of my Mother I was left with out hgome or enny one leagaly bound for my support GEORGE E. WARREN, my brother-law has permitted me to stay at his house up to the present time. And I not wishing to be s subject of Charity anny longger and bing the legal heir claim sutch and ask the U.S. Government to give me all the back pay since the death of my Mother to the present time. My brother DAVID belonged 7 Ky. Cav.
      The declarant hereby appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, HIRAM SWEET of Afton, Clermont Co., Ohio her Attorney, and authorizes him to present and prosecute this claim, to recieve and receipt for the certicates or money that mey be issued or paid upon his foregoing application, and to do any and all acts necessary to effect the purpose of said appointment.

MOTHER'S APPLICATION FOR ARMY PENSION:
State of Kentucky
County of Pendleton
      On this 8th day of June A.D. one thousand eight hundred and sixty three personally appeared before the H. D. Hauser clerk, of the County Court, CATHERINE KIDWELL, a resident of near Demossville, in the County of Pendleton, State of Kentucky, aged 49 years, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefits of the provisions made by the act of Congress approved July 14, 1862: That she is the widow of WILLIAM KIDWELL and mother of DAVID D. KIDWELL, who was a Private in Company E commanded by Capt. William A. McGinety in the 7th Regiment of Kentucky Cavalry commanded by Colonel Faulkner of Kentucky in the war of 1861, who died on the 10th day of April 1863 at FRANKLIN, in the County of WILLIAMSON STate of TENNESSEE; that his death was caused by TYPHOID FEVER.
      She further declares that her said son, upon whom she was wholly dependent for support, having left no widow or minor children under sixteen years of age surviving, that is to say, he died unmarried, declarant makes this application for a pension under the above-mentioned act, and refers to the evidence filed herewith, and that in the proper department, to extablish her claim.
      She also declares that she has not, in any way, been engaged in, or aided or abetted the rebellion in the United States; that she is not in the receipt of a pension under the 2d section of the act above mentioned, or under any other act, nor has she again married since the death of her son, the said DAVID D. KIDWELL.
      And she further states that she believes there is no public record of her said marriage, and there is a private or family record, and the best evidence she is able to procure of her marrige is the accompanying certificate from the records of the family & the witnesses present at her marriage.
      She hereby appoints HARVEY, COLLINS & BRACE, of Washington, D.C., her Attorneys, with powere of substitution, to prosecute her claim and receive the certificate when issued.

Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt from your Office of application for Pension No. 272285, and to return it herewith, with such information as is furnished by the files of this office.
      It appears from the Rolls on file in this Office, that DAVID D. KIDWELL was enrolled on the 10th day of July 1862, at Demossville in the Co. E, 7th Regiment of Kentucky Cavalry Volunteers, to serve 3 years, or during the war. On the muster Roll of Co. E of the Regiment, for the Special Muster dated April 10th, 1863 he is reported "Died April 10, 1863 in Franklin, Tennessee".
