Notes for Sieur Robert De BOSVILLE (BOSSVILLE): Before the Battle of Hastings he was residing at Bosenvilla, near Bosen and Beauzeville, Normany.
He was a Knight and came over with William the Conqueror after the Battle of Hastings in 1066, and can be found listed on the battle roster (see www.thebattleofhastings.com), it is believed that he was too old to fight and was most probably retired. The fact that his name does appear on the battle roster suggests that he had fought many campaigns before, and most probably with William the Conqueror. It is suggested that his name be listed on the roster as kind of a "thank you" for his years of service.
Sometime after the battle it is believed that he settled in Castleacre, Norfork, England "in feof to William Earl Warrenns."
