COL. FRANCIS WILLIS WAS GRANTED 100 ACRES IN GLOSTER CO., VA 11 JULY 1666 FOR TRANSPORTING JOHN BRYANT AND WILLIAM BUSH. (NUGENT, P565)

FURTHER RESEARCH MIGHT DISCLOSE THAT WILLIAM BUSH, WHO DIED 1716, WAS THE SON OF THOMAS BUSH, SON OF THE FIRST JOHN BUSH OR HIS BROTHER IN "KIKATAN" LATER ELIZABETH CIY, OR HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE OLDEST SON OF ABRAHAM BUSH AND NOT NAMED IN ABRAHAM'S WILL BECAUSE HE MARRIED YOOUNG AND WAS GIVEN HIS SHARE OF HIS FATHER'S PROPERTY AT THE TIME. 1658: IMMIGRATED TO VIRGINIA. IN A DEPOSITION GIVEN IN 1707, AFTER HE HAD MOVED FROM VIRGINIA TO NC, WILLIAM BUSH STATED THAT HE WAS 65 YEARS OLD AND THAT HE HAD COME INTO VIRGINIA IN 1658 OR 1659. HE ALSO DESCRIBED THE AREAS IN VIRGINIA WHERE HE HAD PREVIOUSLY LIVED. THIS DEPOSITION, FOR A LAND BOUNDRY DISPUTE WITH THE MAHERINE INDIANS, WAS TAKEN BY EDWARD MOSLEY, ESQR. WHO IS SHOWN ON THE 1717 TAX LIST FOR CHOWAN PRECINCT, NC LIVING NEAR WILLIAM'S SONS WILLIAM JR. AND JOHN.

1662: MARGERY BRYAN APPRENTICED IN BRISTOL, ENGLAND TO WILLIAM BUSH FOR FOUR YEARS IN VIRGINIA. WILLIAM SR.'S SON JOHN MARRIED A MARY BRYAN.

1682: RECEIVED A PATENT FOR 390 ACRES OF LAND AT THE HEAD OF THE BRANCHES OF CURRAWAUGH SWAMP IN ISLE OF WIGHT CO., VIRGINIA ON ROBERT JOHNSON'S COUNTY LINE AND THOMAS MANN'S CORNER FOR TRANSPORTING 8 PERSONS.

1685: WILLIAM BUSH, "WITH CONSENT OF MY WIFE MARTHA", CONVEYED 200 ACRES OF LAND IN ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, VIRGINIA TO GEORGE PIERCE.

1690: ROBERT JOHNSON AND KATHERINE HIS WIFE, ISLE OF WIGHT CO., VA. DEEDED TO WILLIAM BUSH PART OF A PATENT OF 2150 ACRES OF LAND.

1701: WILLIAM BARROW RECIEVED 900 ACRES OF LAND FOR TRANSPORTING 18 PERSONS INCLUDING WILLIAM BUSH, HIS WIFE MARTHA, AND THEIR CHILDREN, MARTHA, WILLIAM JR., SARAH, AND ELINORE TO NORTH CAROLINA.

1716: WILLIAM'S WILL DATED APRIL 5, 1716 STATES-- SONS: WILLIAM("THAT PLANTATION WHEREON HE NOW LIVES"), JOHN ("PLANTATION WHEREON I NOW LIVE"). DAUGHTERS: MARY EARLY, MARTHA WILLIAMS, ROSE WINNS, ELINORE MACLENDAN (ONE SHILLING EACH), ELIZABETH BUSH. WIFE AND EXECUTRIX: MARTHA BUSH. PROVEN OCTOBER COURT, 1716.

1755: WILLIAM BUSH HONORED BY HAVING A LANDING ON THE NEUSE RIVER NAMED "BUSH'S LANDING".

MOST OF THE DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM BUSH, SR. MOVED TO CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA INTO AREAS NEAR THE NEUSE RIVER DURING THE MID 1700'S, AND THEN IN THE LATE 1700'S MANY OF THEM RELOCATED TO SOUTH CAROLINA AND GEORIGA. ALMOST ALL, IF NOT ALL, OF THE BUSHES LIVING IN THE GEORIGA COUNTIES OF WILKES, WARREN, JEFFERSON, MONTGOMERY, LAURENS, PULASKI, HOUSTON, MONROE, PIKE, DOOLY, CRAWFORD AND MACON DURING THE LATE 1700'S AND EARLY 1800'S APPEAR TO BE DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM BUSH SR. THIS OBSERVATION RESULTS FROM STUDYING CENSUS RECORDS, TAX LISTS, ETC., FOR THAT TIME PERIOD AND ACCOUNTING FOR THE BUSH SURNAME INHABITANTS IN THESE COUNTIES IN THE VARIOUS GENEALOGIES AND REPORTS THAT HAVE BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT THIS BUSH FAMILY. SOME OF THE DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM BUSH SR. ARE KNOWN TO HAVE MIGRATED TO ALABAMA AND TEXAS IN THE MID 1800'S, AND OTHERS INTO SOUTHWEST GEORGIA IN THE LATER 1800'S, AND SOME TO FLORIDA IN THE EARLY 1900'S.
