Her mother-in-law came from the Lumpkin area, so this could be a possibility for her as well. It is said she is the daughter of Tom REID and that she had a brother, too. According to her grandchildren, Willie Alice was on a wagon train heading west when they were ambushed by Indians. Both of the children's parents were killed and the children were sent back to SC. Willie Alice wound up with a Mrs. Satterfield in Pickens Co., SC, but she never saw her brother again or knew what became of him.
