| My family roots are from Ireland and Prussia (now Germany). The majority of the family arrived here in the mid 1800s from Ireland. On my mothers's side The Gronis, Dillons, McDermotts, and McCues all coming from Ireland. On my father's side, his mother Loretta Roan was one of 7 children of Patrick and Mary Cahill Roan to come from Ireland. The brothers Mathias and Peter Oehmen came from Prussia with their parents Joseph and Mary. Mathias (my great-grandfather) changed the family name to Ehman in the mid 1870's. Peter and his family continued to use Oehmen or Oehman. I am looking for the roots in Ireland to the Roans and the McCues. The Dillon and the McDermotts we know came from Ballaghaderren, Roscommon County, Ireland. The Oehmens we know came from Kirchweiler, Rheinland, Preussen and immigrated here around 1855. I am looking for Oehmen relatives here and in Germany. Any information will be appreciated. |
