The Cynthia Kearby Family Home Page

The Kearby family is first found in Virginia, beginning with Hawkins Kearby (spelled variously Kirby, Kerby, Curby, Cearby), born ca. 1740 and died 1814. He is listed in Botetourt Co. VA in 1782-1790, then in Jessamine Co. KY in the 1800 & 1810 census. Sons were John, Henry, Francis Benjamin (1779-1825), Edward, Alexander, Richard L. & Joel Campbell. Several sons moved to Indiana, but Francis Benjamin stayed in KY, married Mary (Polly) Butler. Edward Porter Kearby (1818-1897), son of Francis B., migrated to Hot Springs, AR, married Mary Peyton, then moved on to Texas. His son, John Gallatin Kearby(1848-1919), married Ella Melissa Neel in Canton TX. Their son, Jerome Peyton Kearby Sr (1875-1937),was married to Kate Hurst Mason in Wills Point TX & had Jerome Peyton Kearby Jr. This son (1900-1984) & his wife, Ruby Anna Ella Menke (1905-1999), were the parents of Jerome Blount Kearby, Cynthia Janice Kearby & Jay Mason Kearby.
