Notes for Tyre Lee:
Tyre served as a private in Company B of the 11th Georgia Artillery Battalion during the Civil War. He enlisted on May 10, 1862 at Americus, Georgia. He served with the "Sumter Artillery" until he was transferred to the 8th Georgia Cavalry on January 9, 1865. According to his Pension Application he was present at the surrender on April 9, 1865.

Notes for Henry Brawner Bowie:
Henry served as a private in Company F Holcombe's Legion (S.C.) during the Civil War. He enlisted on February 8, 1864 and fought in the following Battles : Savannah, Wilmington, Stony Creek, Petersburg, Lewis Farm, Gravelly Run, and Five Forks. He was taken prisoner at Five Forks and held as POW until released on June 24, 1865. He is buried in the Gilgal Church Cemetery next to his wife, Matilda. His name on the gravestone is incorrectly spelled as Henry "Bronner" Bowie.
