Life Before Me ~~ The Douglas A Butler Family Tree Home Page

Updated September 5, 2000

I have been working on my family tree for only about two years but have managed to aquire about four hundred names so far. Lucky for me most of my family never strayed far from home. Most of my work has centered around miles upon miles of walking graveyards with my mom, wife, son, and daughter. It is amazing the quality family time we have spent in graveyards! It is my wish to gather as many ancestors as possible so that I can leave a thorough family history to my two sons and daughter for them to pass along to thier children.
I am Currently working mainly on the Butler Family portion of my tree, but am also in need of much more. Some of the names I am researching are: Albro, Crook, Cole, Wilbur, McCluggage, Stevens, Wright,Raymond, Moore, and Cahoon. The region is mostly New England, with the majority in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.

Captain Patrick Butler,a sea captain and the son of a James Butler was born in the village of Onset, Town of Wareham in Massachusetts. He was born in 1786 and died in 1869. He was married to Naomi ? who was born in 1796 and died in 1888 on April 4th. They had seven children: Patrick jr., Zidon, Benjamin, Naomi Phillips, Jerome Nelson, Quincy Adams, and Sally Smith Butler.

My hope is that another relative of one of Captain Patrick's children is also doing research for a family tree that may merge with mine.

I have very accurate records including original obituaries, original hand written letters, and many pictures of headstones from the gravesites I have visited.

Any help you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to share any information I have to anyone in need of it. Feel free to contact me. I have a scanner and am able to e-mail, fax or send anything I have.

Thanks for your help.
Doug Butler
