Primarily, I am researching my own BUTCHER surname lineage. The earliest ancestor, that we know of presently, was Johann Philip METZGER who died in Niederlinxweiler, Germany in 1739. The name METZGER means BUTCHER in German. The first, probably, to use the name BUTCHER was his son Georg Valentin METZGER who came to the U. S. in 1749. His son, Balthasar (Paulser) finally made a settlement near what is now Weston, WV in the early 1780s. Now we are scattered to all corners of the western hemisphere. I would appreciate any help from anyone engaged in researchig us or anyone who knows about us. I have about 8000 names for this lineage and still putting data into my computer. Will share my info. |
