The Butler-Caughies of Toronto, Canada

Major Fredrick John Butler-Caughie was born Fredrick John Caughie in Hamilton Ontario Canada in 1953. When he married Eileen Karen Butler on 21 June 1986 he added her maiden name to his. The progeny of this marriage therefor are Butler-Caughies. In a sense, this was the commencement of a truly distinct line.

We have the privilege of being grandparents and so want to trace our roots to show our family's heritage. Both Butler and Caughie are of Irish origin. However, all of our family before our immediate parentage are deceased making our investigation difficult.

  Our Family Tree is in its early stages of development. It has been difficult to confirm information with the lack of living family members. We have managed to put together four generations on both sides of the family. Now the research gets more involved. Hopefully, our efforts will bear fruit.

  My mother, Kathleen (O'Dell) Caughie attended the annual Regimental Remembrance Day Church Parade at Leaside Prebyterian Church in Toronto, Ontario. This is the first liturgy where I was presiding that she has attended. It was a memorable event. She appears between my wife, Eileen, and myself.

  Eileen and I attended the Toronto Garrison Ball on 17 February 2007. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as this was the first Garrison Ball we have attended since we left our Thunder Bay, Ontario posting in 1995.
