Researching descendants of John Butt (1780 S.C.-1843Union Co. Ga) and Sarah Smithers. I have been told that an earlier ancestor was a John or Jackie Butt who married a ___?____ Rider. Most of the research I have done is in Union County, Ga and the old Pendleton District of S.C. I have quite a bit of info on the Union County, Ga. line. It seems they originated in England, then to Virginia and then to S.C. Also researching Davidsons of N.C. in general and Western N.C. in particular. Have heard that seven brothers came here from Scotland. I am descended from Major William Davidson (m.Margaret McConnell) of Buncombe Co. N. C.
