BUTZ / PETERSEN & MORTON / NEWLANDUpdated November 7, 2008 | |
| Here are the families of MAX EDWARD BUTZ and JENNIFER JO (MORTON) BUTZ. Research of this family dates back to 1680. Beginning so far with JOHANNES from Cronenberg, Kreis Kusel of Rheinland Pfalz, in Western Germany. He landed in Pennsylvania about 1737 with his son and daughter. No information about his wife can be found. This BUTZ family is easily followed as it consisted of all males, allowing for the family name to be passed on with less chance of the name being lost through marriage. After JOHANNES there is(sp.)PETAR I m. ANN, PETAR II m. MARGARETHA, SOLOMON m. ELIZABETH, AARON KNAUSS m. ELLEN, FRANKLIN m. GRACE, MAX EARNEST m. DOROTHY, ROY m. PATRICIA PETERSEN, and they had three children, Karen, Laurie and Max. The other side of this family begins in Colchester, England abt. 1520 with JOHN SPALDING. This tree goes for 18 generations with many family names. WRIGHT/PETTIS then PETTIS/LITTLE. Then to LITTLE/PETERSEN and ends at BUTZ/PETERSEN. The PETERSEN side goes back to Thomas C. Petersen from Saby, Denmark, he married Laura Olson. They lived in North Dakota, had eight children and ROY J. PETERSEN continues the tree. Roy was born in Bowbells, North Dakota. He married BERNADEAN L. LITTLE from Pleasant Lake, North Dakota. Roy and Dean, had four daughters. Their daughter Patricia married Roy R. Butz, they had three children and their son Max Edward continues the tree with his three daughters from his first marriage. Now the BUTZ/MORTON families connect when Max and Jennifer married. My MORTON family, seems to coincide with records on John Morton from Tennessee, born in 1836 m. Eliza Ann Willson born in 1842. They settled in Pendelton Oregon and had thirteen children. This family shows the link of their son JAMES AUSTIN MORTON who married JESSIE M. SCHERMERHORN, and they had a son, SIDNEY AUSTIN MORTON, one of their eight children. The family moved to Washington and Sidney was born in Farmington in 1897. They also lived in Spokane Washington and Idaho. The family moved back to Pendleton, eventually Sidney married MABEL MAIN the 1920 census shows them living with James & Jessie. Sidney and Mabel had three children and their son carried on the Morton name. SIDNEY AUSTIN MORTON, JR. married JO ELLEN NEWLAND and to them two daughters were born. On to the NEWLAND/BENJAMIN tree. The NEWLAND branch has many historical documents that researchers have shared. They show this branch beginning about 1710 in Bavaria, Germany with the immigrant JOHN NEWLAND (other spellings noted). In 1734 he had his way paid, to Philadelphia, then he paid that debt and shortly after married ELIZABETH LINDER. Their life story leads to Virginia and to NEWLAND/BROADDUS and on to NEWLAND/MOODY in Kentucky. Both the BROADDUS and MOODY families have a lot of interesting research done, which assures this NEWLAND branch is correctly linked. It shows that Clarence Buell and his sister moved to Missouri with their mother MARGARET ANN MOODY Newland. Clarence who also went by Buell, had two children from a first marriage then this family branches to NEWLAND/DAVIS. The DAVIS' go back to DANIEL DAVIS m. RACHEL ENNIS. Their son JOHN J. DAVIS m. NANCY J. Unknown, then the NEWLAND/DAVIS families meet and their daughter Rachel A. m. CLARENCE BUELL and to them seven children were born. Their son CECIL LEON m. LURA M. BENJAMIN, which connects with the BENJAMIN/PALMER. That tree goes back to 1818 in Licking Co., Ohio and onto Missouri. The NEWLAND/BENJAMIN begins in Missouri. Cecil and Lura moved to Nebraska in 1925 and raised five children. Then in 1941 they moved to Longview, Wa. This home page is still being updated at this time, hence the gaps in family ties. |
