20. THOMAS4 SIMS III (THOMAS3, THOMAS2, WILLIAM1) was born April 24, 1758 in Culpeper County, Virginia, and died May 9, 1831 in Rockingham Co., North Carolina. He married AMY WALL 1786 in Culpeper County, Virginia, daughter of ZACHARIAH WALL and ANNIE EVERETT.

Information below on Amy Wall's family:
Zachariah Wall, son of Robert, of "province of Maryland" purchased 3 Dec 1774 from John Amberger & wf Margaret 300 Acres in Brumfield Parish, Culpeper Co., Va, in the great fork of the Rappahannock R. near Bloodworth's patent & John Hawkins. Wit: James Graves, Joel Wilhite, John Hawkins, John Bigsby.

Frances Wall & wf Margaret of Bromfield Parish in 1772 conveyed in "deeds of gift" to their two oldest sons, James & Jacob, 150 acres each, 1st in "little fork of Rapahanock River on Battle Run" & 2nd, same, joining to Aaron's Mtn to Wm Roberts corner....down Mill run branch to oak joining John Roberts old mill, etc.

Zachariah Wall of Colony of Va 11 Dec 1782 purchased 50 Acres in Brumfield Parish Culp Co in great fork of Rappahanock R. near Joel Wilhoits plantation from John Vawter of Surry Co N.C.; on 17 July 1789, A. Brom Par... in Joel Wilhoites line from Michael Wilhoit & wf Mary; & 20 Oct 1794 Zachariah wall & wf Ann of Culpeper conveyed to son Robert Wall 100 Acres, part in Culp & part in Madison & Brom Par

The Zachary Walls were parents of Amy, Robert, Richard, Ann, Elizabeth, William and Sarah, all of whom went to Rockingham, North Carolina in 1797 except William. Genealogical Sketches as above.

According to the family, this record authenicates the tradtion that Zachariah Wall was originally from the eastern shore of Maryland. ; and that his wife Annie Everett inherited property from her father, Richard Everett & was engaged for sometime in the Robert Wall household. Zachariah & family lived in the vincinity of Madison, North Carolina where he aacumulated considerable property and where many of the descendants contiued to live. Others later moved to Missouri and thenon to Idaho. (Genealogical Sketches).

1787 PPTL of Culpeper Co., Va. : Apr 16 - Zachariah Walle, Robert Walle, Lodowick Major, Sarah & Joseph Robert junr, John Terrill Senr, Robert & Oliver Terrill; Apr 19 Edward Sims; Apr 4 William Sims.

Thomas Sims died in Rockingham, North Carolina where his will, dated 20 January 1830, was probted August Court 1831 (B-400 : to wife Anny (Amy) Sims plantation whereon i now live cont. 250 Acres, with personalty..."after her death to be sold & divided between my children; to son Jesse Sims 100 Acres where he now lives; to son-in-law James Garrett 100 Acres where he now lives; to dau Nancy Lemons $150 instead of land; to dau Sally Sneed 100 Acres where she now lives; to son James Sims "at death of my wife land whereupon I now live. est. 200 Acres, after taking off the 100 given to my s-i-l James Garrett; "to son Zachariah Sims $1. (All were given personalty except Zachariah).....Tract of land near Rocky Springs to be sold to pay debts...at death of wife remaining property to be sold & divided between my sons Jesse & James, daus Nancy Elizabeth & Sally "making their value of parts equable."

21. JEREMIAH4 SIMS (THOMAS3, THOMAS2, WILLIAM1) was born July 7, 1760 in Culpeper County, Virginia, and died May 17, 1846 in Muskingum County, Ohio. He married (1) ELIZABETH SANDERS February 17, 1794 in Culpeper County, Virginia/ By Wm. Mason Baptist Min. (Source: Culpeper Co., Virginia Marriage Records by Knorr, Catherine Lindsay (1781-1815), Perdue County, Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Cup Co., MR 1-239), daughter of JOHN SAUNDERS and ELIZABETH. He married (2) MRS. CATHERINE MADDEN January 3, 1839 in Muskingum County, Ohio (Source: Muskingum County, Ohio MR).

Jeremiah's name appears on the 1791 PPTL of Culpeper County, Virginia:

1-0-0-1 (1 wh male tithe & 1 horse) along with

William Simms & son: 2-1-0-4 on March 23;

George Sims: 1-0-1-3 on March 21:

James Sims; 1-1-0-3 May 26;

Edward Sims 1-1-1-2 April 18th.

Jeremiah is also on the 6 lists examined (1787-1811), but was not found on later ones. However, some records of various districts are missing.

Jeremiah (Jerre) Sims sold to his brother< James for $150 "his rightful interest under will of his father"
16 January 1813. He & his wif Elizabeth were grantors in a deed of trust of Norris, Richards & also, 9 June 1820 & in deed to Jno Horner April 22, 1821.

One Jeremiah Sims was on list for recruiting in Culpeper County for the Continental Army (Revoluntionary War) January 1781. List of classes in Culpeper County for January 1781 Recruiting the State Quota of Troops to Serve in the Continental Army, p 91. (From Virginia State Library).

This Jeremiah sims is not to be confused with the Jeremiah, son of William & Ann Pemberton Sims of Orange County, Virginia who married January 15,1789 in that county to Margaret Taylor. His estate sale was held in Greene County, Va. November 12, 1840.
