William Butler b. May 9 1818 in England (probably Westminster) is said to have been involved in a family run business having to do with cutlery. He had at least one brother named Samuel and at least one sister (name unknown). William departed England about 1845 and arrived in Nova Scotia about 1850. He married Mary Ann Stokes, a British girl, who is said to have been raised by her parents on the Island of Jamaica. William and Mary Ann raised eleven children in Nova Scotia. The search goes on for both William's and Mary Ann's origins. |
