| This family tree began as Bretons until the family emigrated from the Province of Quebec on or about 1855 and established the family in Waterville, ME. It was at this point that the name of Breton was changed to Butler. The family apparently descended from Jean Helie dit Breton I who emigrated from to St Malo region of Paris and settled on the Ille d'Orleans in the Province of Quebec on or about 1660 and settled in Ste Famille, IO, POQ and later to Beauceville, and Ste Marie province of Beauce and emigrated to Waterville, ME on or about 1855 and the family was found on the 1860 federal census. Any further information would be greatly helpful. I will gladly provide any data I have obtained as well. |
