| I am searching for the BUTLER family and their descendents. JONATHAN Butler resided in IRELAND until about 1700 or 1720 when he was banished from Ireland to ENGLAND because of his anti-Catholic beliefs. He lived there until his death. One of Jonathan's sons (first name unknown) left England about 1730 for America. Before landing, a storm wrecked the ship and destroyed all on board except the young Butler and two more men whose names are unknown to me. Butler and his companions were picked up from parts of the wood from the ship off the coast of SOUTH CAROLINA. BUTLER settled in South Carolina and raised a large family. One of his grandsons, JOEL BUTLER (born 1785) married a blond haired, blue eyed Irish girl named Catharine (last name unknown) and migrated to middle TENNESSEE (Lincoln County). Joel and Catharine had thirteen children - two daughters, eleven sons (one of which is believed to have died in infancy). My line is JOEL BUTLER's second son, MILTON BUTLER; Milton's second son, WILLIAM SHIAR; William S's fourth son, WILLIAM RILEY and William R's second son, WILLIAM WAYNE is my father. I am trying to connect JOEL back to JONATHAN BUTLER in Ireland. |
