He married HAZEN, Frances Emmeroy b. 18 June 1850 N.Hero, VT. They had 4 children: Edith Estella; Vernon Eldon; Albert Waldo; and ELSON ROYAL RACE, Elson Royal b at Clarenceville, P.Q. (Quebec) 23 Dec. 1874; m Catherine VEASEY or Vesey b. in Charlestown, IR in Concord N.H. 18 Feb. 1896. They had 6 children.
