The intent and purpose of the "WICOCOMICO TAPTICO INDIAN NATION"
is to facilitate the research of the Wicocomico Indians and descendents of the nation, to educate the public in the culture and history of the Wicocomico and other Algonquian speaking tribes of the region.

After my 8th Great Grand Father, William Taptico II died in 1719, the Wicocomico Indian Nation went out of existence. It appears the Chiefs of the Wicocomico Indians were hereditary and had to be approved by the English. William I and William II both married European Women. At the time of his death, his children were only 1/4 Indian indicating that it may have been impossible for his children to carry on the line. After his wife settled his estate, Elizabeth changed the family name to Tapp and moved to Spotslvania VA. Memberhip in the Wicocomcio Nation is welcome if your lineage stems from William Taptico. The Wicocomico Taptico Indian Nation is Incorporated and recognized by the Federal Government and all 50 states as a corporation.
