This site is a reference for the Cadigan and Smith Families. Its goals include both ancestral linkages (going back as far as we can) and lateral and descendant linkages (bringing as many cousins, neices and nephews together as possible.) The surnames included on the Cadigan side to date are as follows: Cadigan/Cadogan (Daniel, Timothy, Patrick), Foster (Solomon, John), Geary (Lawrence), McCarthy (John, Ellen), Hayes(William), Collins(Ellen), Ryan(Timothy), Touhey, Hunt(Oliver, George Oliver), Knight(William T., Ignatius), Freeland(Mary), Seabrook(s)(Rachael, William, Henry), Norwood(Mary, William), Barney(Eleanor).
Patrick Cadogan/Cadigan emigrated in 1901 from County Cork, the townland Aughadown. The Fosters date in Baltimore County back to the 1700's and Maryland back the mid-1600's. Hunt, Knight, Freeland, Seabrook(s), Norwood, and Barney are all Maryland (English) families from the 1700 and 1800's. Geary, McCarthy, Hayes, Collins, Ryan and Touhey are Irish. Geary, Ryan, and Touhey all settled in Susquehanna Depot, Pennsylvania.
The surnames included on the Smith side are as follows: Smith, Hess(Joseph, Michael), Kohler (Susan), Mulvihille/Mulvehill(Thomas), May(Patrick), Jones(John), Keating(Anne), Heavisides(John), Dunn(Simon), Witherington(Alice), Marsh(Peter, Maria), Kolbe (Colby)(Magdalena), Haelion(Matthew). Smith is actually a given name to an Italian immigrant (Emanuelo ?) who arrived in 1820's in New York from Genoa, Italy (Then part of the Kingdom of Sardinia.) The Hess side is from Bavaria and settled in Albany, New York in the mid 1800's. Kolbe is German and emmigrated to New York City in the 1830's. All of the other names are Irish.
Also of particular interest are the Civil War units 11th New York Fire Zouaves, 2nd Maryland Eastern Shore Infantry as well as War of 1812 information concerning Bosley's Cavalry in Battle of Baltimore, and finally, the 7th Lancaster Rifles in the Revolutionary War.
Inquiries are most welcome!
