First found in Auvergne, where this distinguished family were seated with lands and manor.

Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: Jean Autier, soldier, son of Joseph and Marguerite Pigeon of Perpignan married Marie-Louise Dutaut, widow of Joseph Dubreuil in 1757 at Chambly in Québec. 
   
Thomas's ancestors came from Normandy in France and went to the Channel Island of Jersey.
HAWCO which was once named HACQUOIL.

The HACQUOILS emigrated to Newfoundland in the Harbour Main area in the mid 1700s. They changed the spelling of the name to HAWCO,

CORBETT - SULLIVAN
The wedding of Mr. Walter CORBETT, of Chapel's Cove, to Miss Maria
SULLIVAN, daughter of Cornelius and Anastatia SULLIVAN, of Harbor Main, took
place at the Church of the Holy Redeemer, Boston, Mass., on Wednesday,
November 13th, at 7 p.m. The bride was dressed in white net, with bridal
veil and orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet. The maid-of-honor was her
sister, Miss SULLIVAN, She was dressed in white and pink de sole. The groom
was supported by his brother, Mr. John CORBETT. After the ceremony, a
reception was held at 119 Harvard Street, where the bride and groom were
recipients of many presents, pleasing testimonials of the esteem and
affection in which they are held by a large circle of friends. The assembled
guests enjoyed themselves until the bright hours of morning, when they

Predeceased by her husband Fenwick (1961). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her son George and wife Carmel, grandson Jeffrey and wife Michelle, precious great-granddaughter Kathleen, step-grandson Robby Squires, Banff, Alberta; as well as many other relatives and friends and her many friends and caregivers of 3 West, Hoyles-Escasoni Complex. Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Rd. Prior to her death, she was a Professor at Wayne State University, Madonna College, and Centre of Creative Studies at Michigan, U.S.A. She is survived by a large circle of relatives and friends throughout Newfoundland and other Canadian provinces and the United States as well. Cremation to follow. Burial in the family plot at Conception Hr, at a later date. Memorial Mass at St. Anne`s Church, Conception Harbour, at a time to be announced. Lifelong friend, Frances Laracy, paid her this tribute ³There was only one Doris. We will all miss her. May she rest in peace².

Serve overseas in WW2 with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders.
Helped construct the  coastal guns that guarded St.John's in WW2 as a member of 5th Fortress co.under Capt.J Bell.
He "joined up" and trained at Petawawa in  June 1943 and was sent to Borden in England for advanced training and then to Aldershot for Artillery practice before going into the Hamilton Light Infantry. Later that year he went to France with them.
In Sept 1944, his unit was in support of the famous and disasterous Allied parachute troop attempt to seize strategic bridges e.g. Arnham over the Waal and Rhine Rivers that seperated the Netherlands and Germany. This bridge at Arnham later became the source of the war movie  " A Bridge To Far ". His unit went through the 1944- 1945 winter campaign in the region and crossed the Rhine At Wesel.

Healey, Stephen - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his caring family at his home in Chapel’s Cove, Stephen Healey, in his 74th year. Predeceased by his brothers: Jack, Philip and Patrick, and his sisters: Jane Dunphy, Annie Mary Warren, Frances Healey and Margaret Healey. Left with fond and loving memories are his very devoted wife Lorraine (nee Corbett); his loving daughters and sons: Elaine Walsh (Bill), Gladys Dalton (Carl), Diane Woodford (Paul), Stephen (Peg), Jerome (Angeline), Wayne (Ann).
