| I am searching for information on the CAIN family of Georgia, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. I have found information back to Hector Valentine Cain (b. Feb 5, 1839 Cumming GA). According to family records, he served in Co.1, 43rd Georgia Regiment from July 1862 till May 1865. He was captured July 22, 1864 by Sherman's troops and was a military prisoner at Camp Douglas IL. He had two wives: Catherine Frye and Kansas Carmen Sullivan. I have also found info (though not confirmed) on Hector's greatgrandfather, Micheal Cain, who was from Ireland - possibly County Derry, though Derry could be the town name. See the link to the report on this page for his lineage. I am also interested in finding information on the BOEHM and SAMAY side of the family in Pennsylvania. Both families came from the Bohemian regions of Czechoslavakia (the Samays were Slovak, the Boehms German), arriving in the US around the turn of the century. Key names: Ferdinand Boehm, Josephine Wagner, Joseph Samay, Stepania Lucas. |
