Notes for James Harrison KELLEY:
"Mis. Notes"
"Stories were told that Granddaddy once help in the under ground movement of the Indians in the time of the trail of tears. I'm sure there were many that help the Indians. They were done very wrong in the move from the Eastern States. We don't know who was the one that had the Indian blood into the James Harrison Kelley family . Could have been his dad or mother, but my dad ( John Mack ) told that we were Irish, Cherokee Indian and Black Dutch. At this time I (Patsy Kelley Cain ) can't find it in the records, only by word of mouth."

Notes for Matilda Sarah GRAY:
Cemetery. at grant mountain
"Mis. Notes"
"Stories in family say Grandmother Matilda was Choctaw Indian and Black Dutch. Family members can remember her as been a hard working person yet very firm in her beliefs. She believed girls should not whistle that was not lady like. They shouldn't play hop scotch that was a boys game you might not keep your dress in proper place. She told Uncle Ben and Uncle Jim that she didn't want any flowers to be put on her grave. That people should give flowers to the living not the dead. None of the living family members can remember if there were flowers on her grave. My oldest sisters says they don't think there were any flowers at her funeral. She was living with her sons, Uncle Ben and Uncle Jim in Marble Falls Texas when she died. They buried her in Fairland Cemetery. Uncle Jim is buried there also."
