* Descendants of John Callahan, deceased, Rowan Co. NC, 1766*

Updated November 25, 2010

This home page originated with the family history of John Callahan who died in Rowan Co. NC in 1766. According to what records have thus far been located, John apparently migrated from Pennsylvania to North Carolina sometime in the late 1750's. His estate, filed in Rowan Co. NC in 1767, named his wife, Elizabeth, and stated that there were eleven children in the family.
As research on the descendants of John Callahan has continued over the past 20 years, much information has been accumulated on "other" Callahan's who may or may not have been connected to John Callahan. This information has been provided as part of this home page in order to give other Callahan researchers the benefit of the information and also provide the opportunity to possibly connect some of these lines to the John Callahan line or other existing Callahan families.
This writer has also included as part of this home page "register reports" of several other families on which he has accumulated research. These families include several lines that are connected to members of the John Callahan line through marriage, some which are other family lines of the writer, and also some that are family lines of the writer's wife.
All the information is continuously being updated and the writer strongly encourages anyone to use whatever information they find useful with the hope that readers will share their own information so that the family histories can be more completely documented.
