1. JOHN2 KARBERG (FAKENAME1) was born November 01, 1836 in Wolkow, Germany, and died February 20, 1920 in Bloomer, WI. He married WILHELMINA KOCH March 16, 1863 in Town of Berry, Dane County, WI, daughter of JOHN KOCH and CAROLINA ????.

Notes for JOHN KARBERG:
Enlisted in the Union army, from the town of Beery, on Feb 11, 1865. Company A of the 49th Regiment of Wisconsin Infantry for a one year term. He was mustered into the military service on the 20th day of February, 1865 at Madison, Wisconsin. His birthplace was listed as Germany. He was a resident of Berry, Dane county, Wisconsin. His enlistment was credited to Cross Plains, Dane County. From August 28, 1865 he served at the Freedmans Ber eau. He was mustered out with his company on the 8th day of November, 1865 at Benton Barracks, Missouri. The records further show he was 30 years of age, married, had blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, was 5 feet 5 inches in height and by occupation was a farmer.

Wilhelmina Koch was born in Wolkow (or Volkow) Germany April 8, 1845. When a young girl she came with her parents to America and settled on a farm in Dane county, Wisconsin. In 1963 she was united in marriage to John Karberg and later they moved to Bloomer, WI and settled on a farm 1 and 1/2 miles North of this city, where they resided until 7 years ago, when they moved into the City of Bloomer. Mr Karberg passed away some 3 years ago, but Mrs. Karberg continued to reside here in Bloomer until last January when failing health compelled her to give up her housekeeping and went to live with her grandson, William* in the old home farm.

* Probably William Dombrowski, who operated the old homestead or farm with Gustav Karberg (an Uncle) and Alvina Karberg Dombrowski, his mother. See note in Alvina's file.

Died between 3 and 5 am

Mr and Mrs John Karberg celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary Saturday April 12, 1913. Are old and respected residents of this community, having lived on their farm in the town of Bloomer for 36 years. Mr. Karberg was 77 years old and his wife 68 years. Three children have come to bless their 50 years of married life. Gustav Karberg, Mrs Alvina Dombrowski, and Miss Adelena Karberg, all of whom are at present living with their parents. Mr karberg served during the war in Co A, 49th Wisc, and is a member of N.P. Lyon Post Number 147, G.A.R.
