~ AMBROSE EASTON'S ANCESTORS ~ I am researching the Easton family that first appears in the 1820 census in Indiana-Dearborn County-Laughery Township as John Easton (born about 1790 in Pennsylvania). His wife was Mary Ann Wallace. They had 8 known children. 1. Unknown Easton - daughter born between 1810-1820 2. David Easton - son born about 1813 - died Nov 1860 Kentucky 3. Robert Easton - son born 19 Dec 1819 Indiana - died 29 Jan 1888 Kentucky 4. John T. Easton II - son born 26 Sep 1822 Dearborn County, Indiana - died 10 Aug 1911 Dearborn County, Indiana 5. Unknown Easton - daughter born about 1825 6. Mary Jane Easton Goodpaster - born 01 Aug 1827 Dearborn County, Indiana - died 4 Oct 1899 Dearborn County, Indiana 7. Louisa Easton Mitchell - about 1832 Indiana - died before 7 Feb 1872 8. James Easton - born 17 Feb 1834 Indiana - 01 Feb 1862 Civil War
-------- My family tree can be confusing when researching as there are THREE JOHN Easton's in our direct family line: -------- 1. * John Easton I born about 1790 in PA and was killed in Aurora, Dearborn County, Indiana by a Joseph Peters in a family quarrel on Christmas Day, December 25, 1840. His wife's name was Mary Ann Wallace. This John Easton #1 is the great-great grandfather of Arnold "Buck Easton, Sally Easton Prather, Lula Mae "Dooley" Easton Tanner, Naomi Easton England, Thomas H. Easton, Kenneth "Johnny" Easton, James Russell Easton, and Linnie Mildred "Millie" Easton Melton. -------- 2. ** John T. Easton II ** born 26 Sept 1822 in Dearborn County, IN to Dr. John T. and Mary Easton. Married Lucinda Sanders in Bullitt County 8 June 1845 & she is our direct relative. They had 8 children before she died at a young age of 32 years old on 17 May 1859. He married his 2nd wife Julia Ann Hutcherson in Bullitt County, Ky. on 4 Dec 1860 & had 9 more children for a total of 17 children. This John Easton II is Ambrose Easton's grandfather> therefore, he is the great-grandfather of Arnold "Buck", Sally, Lula Mae "Dooley", Naomi, Tom, Kenneth "Johnny", James Russell, & Millie. -------- 3. *** John Thomas Easton III*** born 3 April 1846 to John T. Easton and Lucinda Sanders in Bullitt County, Ky. He married George Ann Welch Lee in Ky or Missouri in 1873. In the census records for 1880 and 1900, they were living in Boone County, and on the census records for 1910 and 1920, they were living in Independence, Kenton County, Ky. This John Easton III is Ambrose Easton's father> therefore, he is the grandfather of Arnold "Buck", Sally, Lula Mae "Dooley", Naomi, Tom, Kenneth "Johnny", James Russell, & Millie.
~ LINNIE FRANCIS TANNER EASTON'S ANCESTORS ~ > The earliest record found of Linnie's ancestors coming to Kentucky is that of her great-great grandfather George Rouse. He was a descendant from the early German Colonists who had settled in Madison, Virginia and was born there about 1766. On October 8, 1805 the George Rouse family & about a dozen German families left for Kentucky. Gathering with great Conestoga wagons loaded with their families & a few belongings, they started on a hazardous journey. They made the 6-week trek down the Shenandoah Valley, through the Cumberland Gap & up the Wilderness Road (the path that Daniel Boone had made through the forest from North Carolina to Lexington, Ky), then followed the ridge route to Kennedy's Ferry (Covington), arriving in Boone County on November 25, 1805. They settled on extensive land grants of Robert Johnson. The first religious meeting was held at the homestead of George Rouse & was conducted in German by Ephraim Tanner (George Rouse’s nephew). Many of Linnie's ancestors are buried there in the Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery in Florence, Ky (Boone County).
