| I am researching the McGeorge and Macgeorge name. I have a large data base and a number of family trees. My main area of research is Scotland and England but I do have Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and America on file. I have found that most McGeorges originated from the Dumfries and Kirkcudbright area and from there spread around the world. Can I help you? My GGrandfather was Samuel McGeorge born c1836 in Kirkpatrick Durham, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland. His parents were John McGeorge, veterinary surgeon and Janet Johnston. Samuel married Janet Graham in 1856, Balmaghie Kirkcudbrightshire and together with their family went to Christchurch New Zealand in 1879 Because of privacy I have limited the information to 5 generations.
