For years I've heard the stories from my mom about my grandfatherimmigrating as an infant with his family to the U.S.A.. My father died 11 years ago. The only history he left behind was the family bible and some letters he had received from Don O. Corvey, with copies of letters that had been exchanged between Don and Ed R. Corvey. In 1868 Johann Heinrich Anton Corvei (Corvey) and his wife Wilheilmine Henrietta Sophia (Schlichting)Corvey set out for the U.S.A from Lippe, Germany with 5 of their 7 children. Two of their children did not make the trip.I don't know if they stayed behind or were deceased. If the girl Dorthee CharlotteCorvey was living she would have been 15 years old, she may have stayed behind to work or marry. The younger brother was too young, so he I'm sure had passed on. The other five children were.Freidrich Anton " Gottlieb" Corveychr:12/8/1850Freidrich " Heinrich" Anton Corveychr: 2/11/1855Bernarcd Heinrich "Wilhelm" Corveychr:2/19/1860"Wilhelmine" Louise Henrietta Corveychr: 9/6/1863"Ernst" August Corvey chr:6/3/1866My grandfather.aka:Ernest Benjamin CorveyBorn:May 28, 1866Lippe, Germany was "Ernst".Married:Sarah Ann BaileyBorn:March 8, 1873Shelbyville, ILMarried on September 11, 1888 Jonesburg , MOI have found some information on Hienrich (Henry) and Wilhelm (William).I've found them all in Gasconde Co., Missouri in 1870 except my Great-Grandmother, I have to presume she had died.I'mhoping someone out there is also researching "TheCorvey's" as I copy everything I find on the surname and may be able to help them.. | "THE CORVEY FAMILY HOME PAGE" Updated September 5, 2000 |
