Pete Canady (my husband) being entertained by a belly dancer that we had hired for the surprise birthday party I threw for him in March 1981. Keeping this party a surprise was quite a task! The week before the party he had been at what was supposed to be a week-long meeting for his job. Ends up he breaks his leg while playing raquetball and they sent him home early. In the meantime, I had put on invitations for invitees to RSVP me at home...I had to make sure I answered every phone call that week. The day of the party I had made arrangements with some of 'the guys' to get him out of the house and not return until 9 p.m. Again, another chore because a cousin-in-law who was 'in charge' of keeping Pete away, called to say hubby was ready to come home. My response was of course, NO, and suggested that they go eat (even though I had prepared a lot of of food). Long story short, they arrived back home at the same time as belly dancer but we managed to pull it off without any further glitches.
