Notes for James "Jim" Lewis ADAMS: Newspaper Funeral Notice: James L. Adams Funeral today. Funeral services for James L. ADAMS, 75, colored, of near Malta, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Mt. Hermon church, Morgan County., Rev. A. D. Jaxon [JACKSON] officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of West Virginia, Mr. Adams has been a resident of Morgan County for 22 years.
Surviving the deceased are his widow, Martha; six sons, George H. and Charles Adams, Zanesville; Holly and Dwight Adams, at home; HARRISON and James L. Adams, Jr., Malta; two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Washington, Zanesville, and Mrs. Mayme Bailey, Cleveland; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and one brother, Samuel, Elizabeth, W. Va.
****************************************************** Newspaper Clipping: James L. Adams Dies at Home Below Douda. James Louis Adams, 75, colored, died Sunday evening about 10:55 at his home below Douda from complications which developed following an attack of the flu. He had been ill from heat trouble for several years but had declined steadily, the past two months.
Born and reared at Cutler, Mr. Adams later located in West Virginia, coming to Malta township in 1915. He was married in 1882 to Miss Martha Jane Mayle, who is in poor health. Surviving, also, are six sons and two daughters, Charles, James and George H. Adams, and Mrs. Lucy Washington of Zanesville; Mrs. Mamie Bailey of Cleveland; HARRISON Adams of Malta and Holly and Dwight Adams of the home; one brother, Samuel Adams of Elizabeth, W. Va.; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two sons, Clay and Fred Adams, and to infant children are deceased.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Mt. Hermon church in charge of Rev. A. D. JACKSON of Zanesville. Burial was made at Mt. Hermon.
