Includes NotesNotes for Edwin Harrison ADAMS:
The following article was written by Uncle Harrison's wife, Mertie (Mayle) Adams (known to me as 'Aunt Mertie'), which I found in a box containing photos, obituaries, handwritten notes, and newspaper articles that belonged to her. Malta/McConnelsville, OH newspaper, June 11, 1959:

"Lusus Naturae": At the Harrison Adams home on Rt. 37 in Happy Hollow, the UN headquarters for the animal kingdom is established. Last year ,the Adamses were presented with a Scottie dog which was excess in the Robert Howard household at that the time. Soon after the dog's arrival, Mr. Adams made it a house from a barrel and hardly had the dog taken possession than the family cat moved in. Canine and feline got along extremely well, contrary to the usual nature of things. This spring when the cat brought forth a litter of kittens, they, too, were welcomed into the barrel by the prime proprietor, the dog. Nor did the dog object, nor the cat, nor the kittens when a bantam chicken took up residence in the barrel, thus uniting the fowls of the air with the beasts of the field. The bantam, like the cat, has proven fertile and last week began hatching the eggs it has laid. A stop at the Adams home will now reveal the barrel bulging with the dog, the cat, the kittens, the mother hen and the chicks.
